Neurosexology studies how the human organism makes sexual experience possible and organizes it across conditions and time.

It traces the distance between what a body may be capable of and what becomes accessible, discovered, recruited, experienced, expressed, and patterned—without reducing a person to a bodily response, diagnosis, behavior, or label.

Not the same thing

Different parts of sexual experience can point in different directions—and still make sense together.

Neurosexology separates related phenomena before studying how they interact. Complexity becomes more legible when bodily response, desire, pleasure, consent, behavior, identity, meaning, and context are not forced into a single explanation.

The person is not the contradiction. Their experience may make sense once its different parts and contexts are allowed to remain distinct.

From system to pattern

Neurosexology studies the system. Neurosexuality describes the pattern it takes within a person.

Across time and conditions, recurring tendencies in accessibility, recruitment, desire, attraction, behavior, meaning, and identity become part of a person’s neurosexuality. A pattern is real without being reducible to one behavior, one identity, or one explanation of origin.

Neurosexology studies how sexual knowledge is made.

Neurosexology asks which questions are posed, whose bodies are included, and whether a study is measuring capacity, pathway accessibility, recruitment, state, lived experience, observable expression, or some mixture of them. It then asks whether the conclusions fit the evidence.

What do researchers mean when they say ‘orgasm’?

Scientists do not always mean the same thing when they use the word orgasm.

When studies use the same word for different events, their findings may not be directly comparable—and those differences can shape diagnosis, treatment, and public understanding.

This is Neurosexology in practice: begin with lived experience, preserve the distinctions, trace the interacting system, test the explanation, and return the knowledge in language people can use. Making the body legible to the person living in it is not an outreach task added after the science; it is part of the field’s purpose.
